JUAN-GUERRAMemorial Day is a special day the nation has granted our veteran community commemorating the sacrifice many men, woman and their families have made to ensure that our freedoms are maintained; so that this country continues to prosper. Here at the city of Pharr, in the last year alone we have greatly strengthened our ties to our veteran community by providing support and funding for the American Legion and we are in the process of ensuring that the military service organization called “Veterans of Foreign Wars” (VFW), have a permanent location in the city of Pharr. This is the first administration to offer this sort of stability to our veteran community. These first steps are only some of the activities that we are doing to ensure our support for the veteran community continues.

Speaking as a United States Marine, this is not only stating my support, but have proudly served four years of active duty and has volunteered for war after September 11, 2001, I am grateful for those that served and sacrificed. I truly believe: people serve and sacrifice so that others do not have to.

On behalf of Mayor Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez, the entire city commission and our staff, thank you to all who have sacrificed for our great country. We are greatful to the men, woman and families for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country… and community.

God bless you all in this very special day.
