Pharr Memorial Library
Classes will teach you computer basics, how to browse the Internet, how to create an email account, how to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and resume building. These classes are taught by library staff and are designed for patrons who have little to no computer skills. All classes are 2 hours long and meet every Friday of every month from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Classes are $10 dollars for 4 weeks. No refunds will be given! All classes will be held in the computer classroom located on the first floor of the Library.
This course will introduce basic computer concepts by exploring hardware and software components. Students will be taught how to use a computer and navigate through the Internet using web browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. This course is very basic and is designed for beginners.
Microsoft Office/Resume Building
This Course will teach you the basics of Office Word and PowerPoint. Students will learn how to create basic documents, how to build a resume, how to prepare a PowerPoint for presentation purposes and many other useful tools. This class is designed more for, but not limited to, intermediate users. (Currently, these courses are not being taught)
- Registration begins two weeks before a course starts.
- Registration can only be done at the circulation desk.
- Payment can only be made at the circulation desk.
- Payment is required at registration or on the first day each course begins.
- Payment of $10 will be required to enroll in a course and will be good for the 4 weeks the course is given.
No materials are required but students can bring a pen and paper if they wish to take notes.
