The City of Pharr Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has held the rating of “SUPERIOR WATER” from its state regulatory agency Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for the last ten years. The recognition is received by meeting all of the state requirements to produce potable (drinkable) tap water.   The WTP is essential in giving one of the most essential needs of life – “SUPERIOR” tap water. The WTP is a 10 million gallons per day (MGD) up flow plant.  By mid-2014, the new addition of a 9 MGD conventional plant will be online to provide a total of 19 MGD to the residents and visitors of Pharr. The WTP has two water wells that will be able to produce 1 MGD each to assist during high demand for water during the summer months.
