City of Pharr and Museum of South Texas History Unveil “Pharr: Packed with History” Exhibit
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2026

Pharr, Texas – The City of Pharr and the Museum of South Texas History (MOSTHistory) officially unveiled Pharr: Packed with History on Wednesday, September 2, at the Pharr Memorial Library, marking the first time MOSTHistory has curated an exhibit exclusively for a city.
The new exhibit brings Pharr’s history to life through historic artifacts, archival photographs, early produce crate labels and designs, citrus-related artifacts, and other historical materials preserved by MOSTHistory. Through museum storytelling and interpretation, Pharr: Packed with History explores the city’s transformation from its agricultural beginnings to its growing role in international commerce and trade.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Pharr’s agricultural roots, the growth of the Rio Grande Valley, the evolution of cross-border commerce, and the important role of the Pharr International Bridge in connecting the region to international markets.
The main exhibit and presentation are located in Galleria 121, with additional historical materials displayed in the Pharr Memorial Library Rotunda Area.
Following the opening ceremony, Pharr: Packed with History is now open to the public and will remain on display through Sunday, December 13, 2026. Admission is FREE, giving residents, students, families, and visitors an opportunity to experience the exhibit at no cost.
The exhibit is available to view during regular Pharr Memorial Library hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 9:00 a.m.–8:45 p.m.
- Friday–Saturday: 9:00 a.m.–5:45 p.m.
- Sunday: 1:00–5:45 p.m.
The City of Pharr encourages the community to visit the Pharr Memorial Library and experience Pharr: Packed with History throughout its exhibition run. With historic pieces preserved by MOSTHistory now on display in Pharr, the exhibit offers a unique opportunity to explore the city’s past and better understand the history behind its continued growth and connection to the world.
