Water and Us
It is everyone’s responsibility to take care of our water and to conserve as much as possible, the City of Pharr Public Utilities Department conservation efforts are the following:
- City of Pharr Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan
- Continue to encourage the public to practice Water Conservation Tips
- Public Education of Non-Essential Water Use
- During the hot months the City of Pharr will enforce Stage 2 of the Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan. During this time the public is limited to the following restrictions:
- Irrigation Schedule
- Washing of automobiles at commercial car washes or at their residence only on their designated irrigation days and the hose must have a flow control device (i.e. spray gun, control nozzle) to stop water flow when not in use.
- Washing of driveways, sidewalks, parking areas, and streets is PROHIBITED.
- Violators of this ordinance can be fined up to $2,000.

NON-ESSENTIAL WATER USE |
Irrigation of landscape areas, including parks, athletic fields, and golf courses |
Washing of any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane, etc. |
Wash down any sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, or other hard-surfaced areas. |
Wash down buildings or structures for purposes other than immediate fire protection; |
Flushing gutters or permitting water to run or accumulate in any gutter or street; |
To fill, refill, or add to any indoor or outdoor swimming pools or Jacuzzi-type pools. |
To fill fountain or pond for aesthetic or scenic purposes except where necessary to support aquatic life |
Failure to repair a controllable leak(s) within a reasonable period after having been given notice directing the repair of such leak(s); and |
Construction purposes or any other purposes other than firefighting. |
Water Supply in Texas
The regional water supply comes from the Amistad and Falcon Dams, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality continually monitors and enforces Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
