Pharr to Host Inaugural First Responders Festival on Saturday, 9/28 from 6 pm – 11 pm

Pharr, Texas – To honor and celebrate the lives and dedication of first responders, the City of Pharr is hosting the inaugural First Responders Festival in partnership with the Pharr Police Department and the Pharr Fire Department. Pharr families are invited to attend this FREE event on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 6 pm to 11 pm in Downtown Pharr (118 S. Cage Blvd) to learn more about first-responders, safety tips, and life-saving resources.

“Our first responders are crucial to saving lives and are always the first to arrive on the scene during an emergency event, situation, or disaster and we invite the public to come out and meet our city’s finest while also providing them with the opportunity to learn about safety tips and resources,” said Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, M.D. “This will be a fun event for the entire family!” he added.

Featured guest speakers include Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra, Texas Division of Emergency Management Assistant Chief Tony Peña, and Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. The event will feature food and information booths and demonstrations by local first responders, including displays of fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, and other emergency vehicles for hands-on fun! Families will be able to see and experience what first responders do in real emergencies.

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities including live music by Sarah Monique and River Rock 7, over 15 food booths, car seat safety demos by DHR, raffle prizes, carnival rides, family games, and FREE school supplies. In addition, McCoy’s will be giving away free smoke detectors while they last.

Come out and meet your City of Pharr First Responders and show your support! All media and the public are invited to attend.
