Since 2004, the City of Pharr Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has held the rating of “SUPERIOR WATER” from its state regulatory agency Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The recognition is received by meeting all of the state requirements to produce potable (drinkable) tap water. The WTP is essential in giving one of the most essential needs of life – “SUPERIOR” tap water. The WTP is a 19 million gallons per day (MGD) up flow plant. The WTP has two water wells that will be able to produce 1 MGD each to assist during high demand for water during the summer months.
