Pharr, TX – The City of Pharr will begin spraying for mosquitoes tonight, April 4, 2025, in response to the recent flooding. Spraying will initially take place in South Pharr, weather permitting. This action is being taken to minimize the presence of mosquitoes, their reproduction, and the potential illnesses they may carry.
Weather permitting, spraying will continue through early next week, with crews moving from South Pharr to the north side of the city and concluding in Central Pharr. In addition to spraying, city parks have been treated with larvicide to further combat mosquito breeding.
The City of Pharr strongly encourages residents to take precautions by clearing any standing water on their property, such as in tires, trash, or other containers, as they can serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Residents are also advised to apply mosquito repellent, such as DEET, or to wear long sleeves and pants when outside.
To report specific mosquito concerns, residents can use the Pharr 311 app. For any additional questions or concerns, please contact the Pharr Public Health Department at (956) 402-4652.
The City of Pharr is committed to protecting the health and safety of its residents, and we appreciate your cooperation during this important public health initiative.
