The Fire Suppression division includes (3) Battalion Chiefs, (12) Lieutenants, (18) Engineers, (42) Firefighters and is headed by the Deputy Chief of Operations, Carlos Arispe Jr.
The responsibility of the Suppression Division is to utilize the Fire Department’s personnel to deliver a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency services. Emergency services include fire suppression, basic life support, medical first responder, specialized rescue operations, hazardous materials operations-level response, and weather-related emergencies. Non-emergency services include fire hydrant testing, maintenance and support of numerous community events.

Our citizens expect us to deliver these services 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year, under any and all conditions. They expect us to respond with an adequate number of personnel who are trained and equipped to handle the situation efficiently and provide quality service. All of our personnel participate in every facet of the services we provide to the community, whether it be emergency or non-emergency.
Today’s fire service is undergoing a transitional process. Over the last few years, the Suppression Division has evolved into a highly sophisticated public safety rescue system that has saved hundreds of lives and reduced the severity of countless injuries. The Suppression Division strives for excellence by deliberate planning, adaptation and the courage to embrace challenges and opportunities.

A Firefighter’s Pledge
I promise concern for others,
a willingness to help all those in need.
I promise courage – courage to face and conquer my fears;
courage to share and endure the ordeal of those who need me.
I promise strength – strength of heart
to bear whatever burdens might be placed upon me;
strength of body to deliver to safety all those placed within my care.

A Firefighter’s Prayer
When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage,
give me the strength to save some life, whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it is too late,
or save an older person from the horror of the fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout,
and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me,
to guard my every neighbor and protect their property.
And if according to your will I have to lose my life,
please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.
