Pharr After-School Program

The Pharr After-School Program is a recreation program for students in Kindergarten – 5th Grade and shall take place on instruction days from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at school sites throughout the city. Under the supervision of the City of Pharr Parks & Recreation staff, each day, students will partake in structured activities, as well as supervised free play.

Where does the program take place?

This is an on-site program which requires for City of Pharr Parks & Recreation staff members to occupy areas allotted by the campus such as the cafeteria, gym, and playground areas.

When does this program take place?

This program shall take place on student instruction days from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, in accordance with the school district calendar (observing holidays, early release days, non-school days, or when school is dismissed due to inclement weather.) Students are not required to stay the entire time and are not required to attend every day. An additional fee will be charged if the student is not picked up by 6:00 p.m.

What will my children be doing?

Opportunity is given for students to work on homework during after school time. Students will be offered Supper, a small meal, provided by PSJA ISD.  Students will also partake in a variety of group activities which can vary from arts & crafts, sports, board games, and team building activities.

What are the program rules?

The Pharr After-School Activity Program setting and format of large group activities may not be appropriate for all students. Failure to follow the program rules could lead to disciplinary action, including suspension and/or dismissal from the program, with no refund. Common sense, respect, safety, and good judgement should be used as a guide for the rules of this program. Program rules can be found in the Parent Handbook.
