Civil Service Commission
This is a three (3) member commission that implements and administers Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code (Police Officers and Firefighters Civil Service Law). The Commission maintains and approves Civil Service regulations in compliance with state law, certifies a roster of employees covered by civil service, hears, and determines appeals or complaints regarding civil service examinations and certain other employment actions. The board meets the last Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. and additionally as needed. Meetings are held in the Commissioners Room, second floor of Pharr City Hall.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Civil Service Commission include:
- Administer and implement Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code (Police Offices and Firefighters)
- Certify roster of employees covered by Civil Service regulations
- Hear and determine appeals or complaints regarding civil service examinations and certain other employment actions.
