The City of Pharr appreciates the volunteer spirit of its citizens and serving on a board or commission is a great way to get more involved with your community.
The Board of Commissioners appoints board members. Board members serve in an advisory role and/or in carrying out functions required by state and local laws. As a board member, the information below is designed to help prepare you to carry out the duties of your volunteer board or commission appointment.
Access to Personal Information
Generally, information that is collected, assembled, or maintained by the City of Pharr, unless excepted to disclosure, is considered public record and subject to release upon request. All new and reappointment board of commission members must complete a Confidentiality Statement, indicating what, if any, personal information in the custody of the City of Pharr can be released to the public.
Application Process
We will accept applications for board and commission appointments. To apply, click here to download and print a pdf copy of the board application. Complete and mail your application to: City of Pharr, Office of the City Clerk, 118 S. Cage Blvd., Pharr, Texas 78577. Applications by email will also be accepted.
New Board Member Orientation
New Board Member Orientation will be scheduled as needed. All newly appointed board members are required to participate in the new board member orientation. Please note dates and times are subject to change. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 956-402-4100 ext. 1007 or 1016.
Open Government Training
All newly appointed board or commission members must complete the following Open Government Training and submit an Acknowledgment of Completion to the City Clerk.
