At Pharr Public Safety Communications, continuous training and professional development are essential to delivering reliable, high-quality emergency services to our community. Our 9-1-1 professionals receive comprehensive initial training that builds a strong foundation in call handling, radio communications, emergency medical dispatch, fire dispatch, and critical decision-making under pressure.

Ongoing professional development ensures our team remains prepared to meet evolving challenges in public safety. Through continuing education, scenario-based training, quality assurance, and skills refreshers, our telecommunicators stay current with industry standards, technology, and best practices—supporting excellence, resilience, and public trust in every call we answer.

This course will give new supervisors the skills they need to succeed in their positions. It will give experienced supervisors updated, refreshed skills that will further their careers.

Using a combination of lecture and practical exercises, students will learn the supervisor’s role in HR, tools to get organized, how to effectively make the transition from line-level to supervisor, how to build and lead a team, supervisor-specific communications, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, stress management techniques, and many other skills, and tips for their toolbox.

• This is a 3-day course.
• In order to fully participate in daily assignments and activities, students should bring a laptop.
• There are no re-certification requirements for this course.
